These two braddahs are my same age, & I grew up in NJ watching them surf on TV in the major competitions, & reading about them in the surfing magazines...as a surfer who dreamed of living & surfing in Hawai'i, naturally they were my idols...I did eventually move to the Big Island, & I met a beautiful Native Hawaiian wahine, Mana, from a surfing family on O'ahu...we were together for 21 years, until she passed away...to me, surfing "The Sport of Kings" has always been intricately tied to Hawai'i, & to the people of Hawai'i...Michael & Tony, & their ohana are all such admirable Ambassadors of surfing & Native Hawaiian culture...this was a very special interview, & naturally I couldn't help but think about Braddah Derek the entire time too...Mahalo to all of you

We paid upfront a non-refundable vacation package of $2000+ for 6-nights and it was NOT mentioned on 3rd-party travel booking sites (their trusted-business partners) prior to confirming payment that a separate bogus, substantially high-cleaning fee will be directly charged to your credit card on file even without your acknowledgment. Upon check-in they put us in a hostile situation that we couldn't check-in ( after flying across continents and 9-hours commute) unless we paid the uninformed, separate bogus, substantially high-priced "Mandatory cleaning fee" of USD 320 ($440.34 CDN) for 6-nights and that we won't receive our hotel-access. The receptionist Angie did not care about customer service and basically told us to leave with our luggage. Basically, you're left with disappointment and no options in a. hostile situation upon check-in to make you pay a separate , bogus "Mandatory cleaning fee" of USD 320 ($440.34 CDN) for 6-nights. They also have your credit card on file. My partner and I, are careful budget spenders and triple-checked prior to booking a non-refundable payment. ONLY AFTER you make a payment, on your itinerary it will mention about a separate cleaning fee maybe charged directly by the hotel (merchant) We escalated to the General Manager Sheila Gerbig-Hussey and she does not care and even puts the blame on their trusted, 3rd party businesses, such as Air Canada, booking.com and etc; because 'she can't do anything about it' to knowing fully that the hotel (merchant) is directly charging your credit card and still makes roundabout excuses that it is their 3rd-party business fault for not informing you ahead of the booking and to refund the hotel's direct-cleaning fees To fully acknowledging that the cleaning fee is on their private website hidden on sub-pages and expects customers to visit their seperate private website to be informed about a high-cleaning fee will be charged to save themselves from this scam charge. We asked, "Why would customers go to your hidden webpage about a cleaning fee after booking on a 3rd party business partered platform?" Her response, " It is on our website" with a smirk Their bogus cleaning fee IS NOT visible fees prior to booking your trip in that one-transaction She also knowingly well they are scamming hotel guest directly and tries manuever the blame on their trusted, business partner.
